Hillman Ferry Campground in LBL

Sleep peacefully under a canopy of trees at the Hillman Ferry Campground, located in Land Between the Lakes, about five miles south of Grand Rivers, Kentucky. From March through November, the campground offers a blend of nature and modern conveniences to give you the perfect vacation experience.

Hillman Ferry's 368 lakefront and wooded sites can accommodate various units from tents to recreational vehicles. It also offers sites with basic electricity, water and sewer. General regulations limit each campsite to two camping units-either two tents or one wheeled unit and one tent. Guests may also park up to two vehicles per site. There are a handful of eight-person primitive cabins available as well.

In the spring and fall, you might not find water at the campsites, due to colder temperatures. But, you can always access it at hydrants installed throughout Hillman Ferry.

If you forgot some minor camping gear, don't worry about it! Hillman Ferry's Outpost sells ice, firewood, tick repellent, limited camping supplies, and various perishable goods so guests don't have to go without. If you crave caffeine at any point, you can find soft drink machines behind the gatehouse and the shower building. Guests can access washers and dryers in designated areas.

You also don't need to visit a fancy sporting goods store to have fun at Hillman Ferry. The campground rents out sports and outdoor equipment. The Outpost has rental bicycles, Disc Golf discs and other items available from April through October. The rentals may require security and cleaning deposits.

Hillman Ferry also offers other facilities and amenities to enrich your vacation, including a large swimming area, a ball field, a campfire amphitheater, two boat ramps, a fishing dock, picnic tables, and fire rings.

With Hillman Ferry's beautiful scenery and variety of activities, you'll never be bored. During the summer months, the campground provides recreational programs for adults and children alike, and it also hosts concerts for guests.

In between programs, disc golf enthusiasts can hone their skills at the practice basket behind the campground's Activities Building. Hillman Ferry allows archery in designated areas, as well, but it prohibits broad-head arrows.

Hiking and Bike Trails

If you want to leave the camping area, the Hillman Ferry Mountain Bike Trails offer a challenging ride through the forest. But, if you prefer a slower pace, you can walk or bike the Hillman Heritage National Recreation Trail and enjoy the wildlife. It's open to the public only during daylight hours, and unregistered campers must check in and out at the Hillman gatehouse.

The Old Rock Quarry

For explorers, the Old Rock Quarry offers gorgeous views. But, camping, swimming and diving are prohibited. It can be dangerous, so guests visit at their own risk.

Hillman Ferry does not want you to bring your own firewood. It prefers you use local sources, instead. If you move firewood, burn all of it before leaving your campsite.

Campsite reservations can be made for a few nights or even a few weeks for those wishing to secure their spot over the summer months. Visitors should call 270-924-2181 for more information.
