Our Climate

Unlike other parts of the country, the Kentucky Lakes Area features four distinct seasons.  Summer time in the Lakes Area is usually warm and humid, with temperatures peaking on average about 90°F.  The warm and humid days of summer usually kicks in around June and runs through September.

Winter time in the Kentucky Lakes Area can provide some beautiful scenery when it snows; extreme winter weather is rare.  Temperatures usually average in the lower 40s for day time highs and in the mid 20s during the overnight hours.

Snow usually falls between late November and early March, although measurable snow has been recorded in October and April.  The Kentucky Lakes Area almost never experiences blizzard-like conditions, although some storms can dump between 6-12 inches of snow.  Most storms provide snow from a dusting up to about three inches. Average annual snowfall is about eight inches, with less toward Interstate 40 in Tennessee.

Extremes:  The highest temperature ever record was 110° set in 1952.  The lowest was -16° set in 1982.
