Beaches & Swimming at Kentucky Lake, Lake Barkley

Swimming is allowed just about anywhere in Kentucky Lake & Lake Barkley, but if you're looking for a spot to crash for the day, here are some options. Other than public pools and water parks, there are no lifeguards on duty.

Moss Creek Day Use Area

Located in Land Between The Lakes, Moss Creek Day Use Area is a popular place to swim at Kentucky Lake. It's just south of Grand Rivers, making it an easy place to get to for those staying in the northern part of the lakes region. The beach is pebbly, so water shoes are highly recommended. It is free and open to the public. There are no lifeguards and only a small restroom facility.

The Sands

This next place is hard to get to and somewhat unknown to out-of-town visitors. But we're including it because it's just awesome! The Sands is only accessible by boat in the summertime, but is a large, naturally sandy beach along the north part of Kentucky Lake.

During the late summer and early fall months, the beach is accessible by foot when the lake begins to decrease. The Sands is not on any official map, and there are no facilities whatsoever or official vehicle parking.

Kentucky Dam Beach

Open to the public, this sandy beach is located at Kentucky Dam State Park and is free of charge. There is a protected swimming area but no lifeguards.

Paris Landing Beach

Paris Landing State Park features a sandy beach along the shores of Kentucky Lake. The protected swimming area is free and open to the public.

Eva Beach

A free, sandy beach located near Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park near Camden, Tenn. It's located in the southern Kentucky Lake area and has no lifeguards.

Kuttawa Recreation Area

Featuring a protected sandy beach, flush toilets, basketball courts, playground, and more. It is located on Lake Barkley in Kuttawa. Managed by the Corps of Engineers, there is a small day use fee to enter.

Lake Barkley State Park

A free, sandy beach located on Lake Barkley's Little River. Open Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend.

Venture River Water Park
