Kentucky Lake
The city of Benton is located about 15 minutes west of Kentucky Lake, but you'll find a lot of waterfront accommodations and other businesses with a Benton address, especially along Jonathan Creek, Malcolm Creek and King Creek. These bays and inlets of Kentucky Lake offer some of the best fishing opportunities around.
About 20 minutes southeast of the city of Benton lies the community of Aurora. There you'll find some dining options, affordable lodging opportunities, retail and Kenlake State Resort Park. The heart of Aurora is about a minute or two from Eggner's Ferry Bridge crossing Kentucky Lake.
Land Between The Lakes
Land Between The Lakes is a National Recreation Area that is controlled by the US Forest Service. This 170,000-acre, uninhabited area is a great place for anyone to spend a couple of days or more. Numerous attractions within the park include the Nature Station, Elk & Bison Prairie, Golden Pond Planetarium, Homeplace1850s, and Turkey Bay OHV Area.

Fun For The Whole Family
There are a few places near Benton that the kids will love. Kentucky Shores near Draffenville, about 15 minutes from Benton, has mini-golf, go-carts, ziplines and so much more. Maggie's Jungle Golf on 641 near Kentucky Dam is another popular destination offering miniature golf as well as a Jungle Run. The Kentucky Opry, also in Draffenville, has country-style live music shows all year long and are family-friendly.
Each spring, usually the first weekend of April, Benton celebrates Tater Day. This three-day festival features a parade, carnival rides, lots of interesting food vendors, a flea market, and more. Find more information about Tater Day.
