For April 8, 2019

Report for Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley

Hello fellow fishermen! Spring is here, and it is time to start getting serious about catching some fish. Water elevations have stabilized, the current has been cut back to normal, and water clarity has improved.

The weather of course has been the typical Western Kentucky roller coaster ride with warm days and a big south wind, and then a cold front with a big north wind. The nice days have been few and far between. But, this is something that one just must deal with.

On the fishing front, they have been hard to capture for myself, and those who are in my fishing circle. It has not been for a lack of effort, and the effort will continue. I have fished on some nice days, and on some which were not pleasant, regardless the bite was tough.

The fish I have taken have come on both minnows and jigs fished vertically on deep brush. One day I did catch some casting grubs to brush and stakes in 10 to 14 foot of water on flats. The jig colors I have had some success on were in a crayfish or chartreuse color.

All I can do is keep on going, and trying different things to try to crack the code of where they are, or when they will bite, etc. I am honest with people about the conditions, and I want them to catch fish. Therefore they hear the good, the bad, and the ugly on my reports. I will always be truthful with you about what's happening in my boat, so you can make an informed decision before you decide to go fishing with me.

I want you to catch fish, and come back with me to fish again. I am not here to just take your money, and get you on your way back home. I will always do my best to show you a great time, with the given conditions.

For any of you folks out there looking for someone to take you fishing, give me a call at 270-816-3102.I presently have several dates open throughout the year, and will accommodate you the best I possibly can. Please check out my website. I will be glad to talk to you, and answer any questions you have.

Thanks, And Tight Lines

Visitors to the Elk and Bison Prairie in Land Between The Lakes can almost always catch a glimpse of some bison. They are most frequently seen early in the morning and in the late afternoon.
