Things Looking Up

Written by Josh Lovett - Published on January 18, 2019

It's been a very busy couple of weeks at the creek!  With upcoming shows and plans for the rest of the year being laid its been tough finding time to get out and fish.

The couple of times I have been able to get out I have seen much improvement over last winter!  Tons of bait have the fish fat and happy and the catch rates are much better than the first of last year.

I'm predicting to have a much better spring over last years as long as the weather holds out.  Quick limits and good numbers seem to be the story on crappie.  The lake is showing more resemblance to the Kentucky Lake of old.

I have caught my fish slow trolling jigs tipped with minnows and double minnow rigs on creek ledges.  Depending on the day I have caught them from 12'-24' of water on and between structure.  I expect the fish to scatter a little, especially with the overcast conditions that seem to have become normal.

As for upcoming reports I will try to update as I can but I will be at several boat shows and outdoor expos from now until the end of February.   Our show schedule is as follows:

  • Murray Boat Show: Jan. 18-20
  • Louisville Boat, RV, & Sportshow: Jan. 23-27
  • Tinley Park Fishing Show: Feb. 2-10
  • Indianapolis Boat, Sport, & Travel Show: Feb. 15-24

If you happen to be in the areas of the shows you should come see Lynnhurst Family Resort and I and talk about what we have to offer you!  We have some new fishing packages that we are very excited about that will bring some savings and make booking easier for our clients!
