Transportation

Major highways in Henry County include US Highway 79 and US Highway 641.  The Paris-Henry County Airport serves the Paris and Henry County area.  The airport has a full I.L.S., a localizer, G.P.S. and N.D.B. approaches.

Some of the airport's services include air charter for business and pleasure, flight instruction, aircraft rental, hangar rental, and aircraft maintenance. 

For commercial flights, the nearest available airports are located in Jackson, TN, and in Paducah, KY.  Both airports are about 60 miles away.  Full-service commercial airports are located in Nashville and Memphis.

Demographics

Henry County is located on the western shore of Kentucky Lake and consists of 593 square miles.  The population as of 2018 was 32,147.  Henry County has three incorporated cities:  Paris, Cottage Grove and Henry.  Other communities within Henry county include Buchanan, Como, Mansfield, Old Springville, Puryear, Springville and Whitlock.   

The economy of Henry County is a mix of industry, agriculture and tourism. 

Education & Healthcare

In Paris and Henry County, there are two public school systems.  The Paris Special School District operates two elementary schools with a total enrollment of over 1500 students.  The W.G. Rhea School is for grades K-3 while the W.O. Inman School is for grades 4-8.  The school system contains over 100 teachers and faculty.  

The Henry County School System boasts an enrollment of 3200 students.  The county contains four elementary schools.  They are located at Puryear, Henry, Lakewood, and Cottage Grove.  The elementary schools are for grades K-8.  The E.W. Grove School houses the 9th grade while Henry County High School offers 130 courses for grades 10 through 12.  Henry County High School has an enrollment of about 1000 students with 77 teachers and faculty on a 60-acre campus

The second largest hospital in the Kentucky Lakes Area, the Henry County Medical Center has a medical staff of over 70 doctors with over 700 employees.  The medical center contains a 142-bed acute care hospital, the 150-bed Henry County Healthcare Center and Plumley Rehabilitation, Henry County Home Health and Hospice, the county Emergency Medical Service, and the off-site Center for Wellness & Rehabilitation.  HCMC also offers an outpatient surgery center for surgical needs. 

Additionally, HCMC recently completed a 10,000 square foot, state of the art, outpatient diagnostic center with comprehensive imaging and radiology services including MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Bone Density, and Digital Mammography.

The Cancer Care Center of Henry County offers comprehensive cancer treatment services, including radiation therapy and chemotherapy.  In addition to Lake Haven Psychiatric Center's inpatient services, a partial hospitalization (or outpatient) program is offered.  The Medical Center offers excellent rehabilitation services in physical, occupational and speech therapies on an inpatient, outpatient, and skilled nursing facility basis.  HCMC also invested in a daVinci surgical robotic system for the region offering urological and gynecological surgeries with the equipment.

Government

The City of Paris has a Commission-Manager form of government.  The City Commission, composed of five persons elected every four years, selects one of the members to serve as mayor for a two-year term.  There are 31 police officers in the city and 24 firemen.

Henry County is governed by a county executive and 18 commissioners.  At 98, the county has a large number of volunteer firefighters.
