An important source of food for the families of the 1850s was the garden. The garden provided a variety of different fruits and vegetables that supplemented the staples they could buy and trade for at the local market. An interpreter will be available today in at least one of the two major food hotspots on our farm, the garden and the kitchen. Say hello and learn how we grew, ate, and preserved our bounty in an era before refrigeration!
