Dave Stewart's Fishing Report

Below freezing air temperatures for this past week have dropped the water temperatures and the forecast for next 5 days would indicate that the subfreezing weather will continue and this should work to drop the water temperatures even more. A big snowstorm hit the lakes area today and dropped 3-6 inches of snow throughout the lakes area.

I only received one fishing report this week and it comes from the Big Sandy area. It was reported to me that some good Crappie were caught there in Big Sandy this past week in 12-15ft of water over brush piles and stake beds. These fish are being taken by vertically fishing small minnows and minnow/jig combinations on tight lines. No reports were received on any of the other species here, I guess like me, most of the anglers have been inside this past week staying warm.

This is normally the coldest time of the winter but the early spring fishing is only weeks away now. Now is the time to get out those tackle boxes and go thru them and see just what a mess you left it in after that last fishing trip. Rods and reels need to be inspected and cleaned and get necessary repairs done now before the season gets here.
