Oak shingles on the roof, fence pickets, and tobacco sticks are just a few of the applications for wood on the farm. Some boards are rived out (split with a froe) and some are sawn. Find out why one is used over the other for different applications. The Homeplace Interpreters' handmade shingles are being used to reroof the historic farm buildings. Ages 13 and up - $5

"Don't Forget Our Vets" Memorial Ride

One of the constant chores of farm women was mending and making clothing and other household textiles for their family and home. Often starting with the raw materials from the farm, these talented women created amazing, long-lasting clothing with needle thread, knitting needles, and crochet hook often with little instruction, and only with advice from period magazines or knowledgeable friends. Visit us in the parlor as we show off our treasured reproduced textiles and the research that we do to reproduce period-correct clothing and household items.
