Visiting Land Between the Lakes with Your Furry Friend

September 2, 2025 | Lakin' It with Lydia

I love bringing my dog along on trips, and Land Between the Lakes is one of our favorite spots. A lot of people have been asking me if it's a good place for dogs, and I can tell you it absolutely is. We've had some great adventures there, but a few things are good to know before you go.

For everyone's safety - your dog, the wildlife, and other visitors—you'll need to keep your pup on a leash at all times. It's a simple rule that helps protect everyone. You also have to pick up after your dog in developed areas, but I always think it's good to clean up on the trails, too. It's just common courtesy and helps keep the paths nice for everyone.

Some places have unique features for pet owners. For example, did you know your dog is welcome inside The Homeplace Working Farm? The staff there is wonderful and will even offer a water bowl for your companion. Just be aware there are ducks and chickens roaming freely, so it's smart to keep a tight hold on that leash. The Nature Station also has a great option for pet owners. They offer free kennels you can use while you go inside to see the exhibits. You just ask for a lock and a water bowl, and you're good to go.

So, get out there and enjoy a hike, go camping, or take a swim with your dog. You'll make some beautiful memories together.

Here's a video of my experience...
