Fall Camping & The Philosophy of Primitive Camping
October 7, 2025 | Lakin' It with Lydia
There’s nothing better than waking up right next to the water when the wilderness is calling your name! If you’re looking for a quiet, rustic getaway, primitive camping on TVA land here on Kentucky Lake is the perfect adventure. It’s called dispersed camping, and it means you get to pick your own undeveloped spot—no facilities, no fees, just you and nature.
For us, the number one rule of visiting nature is to leave it better than you found it. This philosophy means we take out absolutely everything we bring in. When enjoying a cozy campfire (which is the perfect end to any day!), remember you can only use wood that has already fallen to the ground—no cutting trees! Also, keep in mind these spots generally have a 14-day limit.
Planning your trip is simple! To find these amazing, undeveloped spots, you can check out the TVA map on their website to see which areas are open for camping. One word of caution: make sure you only take your vehicle as far as you are allowed. Not all roads are public transportation, so always check the map!
If you're ready to embrace the quiet beauty of our shoreline, this is your sign! Grab your gear, and come visit us.
