My Walk Through Cherokee Park

My latest stop at Kentucky Lake was walking around Cherokee Park. Knowing it used to be the only state park in Kentucky where African Americans could go during segregation makes you see the place differently.
Even though it's super quiet now, you can almost picture folks back then enjoying the lake and the woods, a special place just for them when so many other spots weren't. Walking past the empty buildings and along the quiet paths makes you really think about that time and how much this park must have meant. The lake's still gorgeous, and the trees give great shade, but there's this whole layer of history that makes you reflect on how things were and how far we've come.
If you ever find yourself at Cherokee Park, definitely take a moment to appreciate the history and keep the place as it is.
