Nature Station Offers Eagle Tours This Winter

January 9, 2025 | Press Release from LBL

The Friends of Land Between the Lakes is excited to announce that the Woodlands Nature Station will host Eagle Viewing Van Tours and Road Less Traveled Van Tours in January and February.

Eagle viewing van tours will be offered on various weekends providing a chance for visitors to view these majestic birds in their natural habitat within Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. The tours will take visitors to some of the bald eagles favorite bays, shorelines, and roosting spots. Naturalists will be there with binoculars and spotting scopes helping visitors spot these majestic birds as they soar through the sky and perch in the trees.

A full list of van tours can be found at www.landbetweenthelakes.us/woodlandsnature or you can call 270-924-2020 to register.

"Land Between the Lakes serves as a major wintering spot for bald eagles from northern areas such as Michigan and Canada. We estimate that over 200 bald eagles overwinter in the Land Between the Lakes region,” states John Pollpeter, lead naturalist. “Here, 300 miles of undeveloped shoreline and open water for fishing provides eagles with the ideal habitat they need to thrive during winter.”

Road Less Traveled van tours will offer visitors a chance to explore scenic vistas, wildlife hotspots, and more. There will be two tours—one will focus on the northern end and one on the southern end. There will also be a variety of locations visited during the President’s Day tour.

*Reservations and full deposits are required for all van tours.
