Migration Celebration and Native Plant Sale Planned at Woodlands Nature Station

May 6, 2021 | Press Release from Friends of LBL

The Friends of Land Between the Lakes invites you to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day on May 8 and the annual Mother’s Day Weekend Native Plant Sale on May 8-9, 2021, 10am-5pm (Sat/Sun) at the Woodlands Nature Station, inside the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, 3146 Silver Trail Road, Cadiz, KY 42211.

World Migratory Bird Day honors the spectacle and struggles of our fine feathered friends that migrate between North and South America each year, like hummingbirds, orioles, purple martins, and osprey. Spend the day searching for bird clues in the Backyard Bird Scavenger Hunt, look into a screech owl’s giant eyes, learn easy ways to help birds at home, and finish the day comparing the predatory adaptations of falcons, hawks, and owls. Bring a picnic and stay the whole day.

Saturday, May 8 Migration Celebration Program Schedule:
*10am-5pm Backyard Bird Scavenger Hunt
*11:30 Owls Up Close
*1:30 10 Simple Ways to help Birds at Home
*2:30 Vulture Culture
*4:00 Raptor Row

Also stop by for the Mother’s Day Weekend Native Plant Sale, Saturday & Sunday May 8 & 9, 10-5pm. Nothing is better for attracting birds like hummingbirds and making Mom happy than giving a gift of a bouquet of native wildflowers. Over 25 different native wildflowers known to attract birds, butterflies, bumblebees, and more to the backyard will be available for purchase. 100% of all proceeds go back into the care of the gardens and the resident wildlife at the Nature Station.
