Explore Kentucky Lake Acquires KentuckyLake.com

Explore Kentucky Lake, the leading tourism website for the Kentucky Lake region, has acquired KentuckyLake.com, effective immediately.

Explorations Media Group, LLC of Murray, Kentucky, is the parent company of Explore Kentucky Lake with Shawn Dunnaway as president. Both websites have a combined 41 years of marketing Kentucky Lake, Lake Barkley and Land Between The Lakes on the internet.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity to use my 18 years of experience in our local tourism industry to grow and expand our online presence,” said Dunnaway. “I’m 100% dedicated to promoting Kentucky Lake, Lake Barkley and Land Between The Lakes. And with the purchase of KentuckyLake.com, I’m thrilled more than ever about the potential for our region.”

While the two websites have a similar purpose, Dunnaway said Explore Kentucky Lake and KentuckyLake.com are not merging.

“We plan to continue to operate the websites independently. With a brand new look for Explore Kentucky Lake now complete and launched, we plan to launch a new KentuckyLake.com over the next few months. Having both web properties along with our other internet properties working together will allow us to market Kentucky Lake, Lake Barkley and Land Between The Lakes better than ever.”

With a combined 1.5 million visitors each year to ExploreKentuckyLake.com and KentuckyLake.com, along with nearly 100,000 social media followers, this acquisition will significantly benefit tourism in western Kentucky and northwest Tennessee.

The company also plans to offer website and online marketing services for tourism-related businesses and organizations. KentuckyLake.com was launched in 1996 with ExploreKentuckyLake.com beginning in 2001.
