Celebrate Independence Day at the Homeplace

June 17, 2019 | Land Between The Lakes Press Release

The Friends of Land Between the Lakes invite you enjoy an old-fashioned afternoon of fun on Independence Day—one of the biggest holidays in the 1850s, 1 - 4pm on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at the Homeplace 1850s Working Farm, 4512 The Trace, Dover, Tennessee, 37058. Admission is $5 for ages 13 and up; $3 for ages 5 - 12; and free for ages 4 and under.

The festivities begin with a group reading of the Declaration of Independence and raising a 30-star flag. Savor a cool slice of watermelon, take part in historic outdoor competitions and games, make a classic craft and help with patriotic toasts and tributes, all in celebration of America’s birthday.

Weather permitting, the event will conclude with a small hot air or "smoke balloon" launch.

Fourth grade students can go to https://everykidinapark.gov/ to receive a free Every Kid in a Park pass, and get their family in for free. For more information, call the Homeplace at 931.232.6457.
