U.S. Coast Guard to Host Free Safety Event

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and Sportsman's Lodge Campgrounds & Marinas will be presenting a kick-off event for National Boating Safety Week at Sportsman's Marina. The marina is located at 12888 US 68 between Aurora and Draffenville on Jonathan Creek.

This free event will feature many activities including free vessel safety checks on dock and on land, boating skills instruction and games with prizes for kids.

Coastie the Coast Guard boat will be on hand for the kids to interact with. Also on site will be an interactive display from the KDFWR, food, snow-cones, games and more.

The event time is 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sportsman's Lodge is also offering a 15% discount on lodging during this event. For more information, call 270-354-8333.
