Our New Johnsonville, Tennessee Area section of covers the city of New Johnsonville and Waverly as well as Richland Harbor, Duck River and Cuba Landing. 

New Johnsonville is a town of about 1,905 people and located directly on Kentucky Lake on US Highway 70.  Waverly has about 4,000 residents and is the county seat of Humphreys County.  Waverly is located about 12 miles east of New Johnsonville and Kentucky Lake. 

Richland Harbor and Cuba Landing are both located in bays off of Kentucky Lake.  Richland Harbor is located just north of New Johnsonville and Cuba Landing is located south of New Johnsonville just off of Interstate 40. 

Duck River drains most of Middle Tennessee directly into Kentucky Lake and is known for its biological diversity with over 150 species of fish.  Duck River National Wildlife Refuge can be found nearby.

Education & Healthcare

The Humphreys County School System serves over 3,400 students in grades pre-k-12.  They have three elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools.  They have ten preschool classes serving 75% of the four year-olds in the county.  They have 100% Highly Qualified status with No Child Left Behind.  Class sizes are small, especially at elementary level.  At the high school level they encourage dual enrollment with the local community college. 

Three Rivers Hospital, located on Highway 13 in Waverly, is a Critical Access Hospital and is licensed for 25 acute care beds and 10 swing beds.  The hospital provides a 24-Hour emergency room, laboratory, pediatrics and much more. 


The County of Humphreys is governed by the county executive and county commissioners who meet on the second Monday of each month at Waverly City Hall.  The city of Waverly is governed by the city mayor and alderman which meet on the second Monday of each month at Waverly City Hall.  The city of New Johnsonville is governed by a city mayor and councilmen who meet on the 1st Monday of each month at City Hall.
