Weaving Chair Bottoms
Where: Dover, TN - The Homeplace - 4512 The Trace
When: November 25, 2018 - 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Making the old style ladder-back chairs was a popular winter pastime hobby for some and a source of winter income for others in the 19th century. Keeping this tradition alive, we still make chairs from local tree and using traditional woodworking tools. This afternoon we are working on one of the last steps, weaving the chair seat with hickory bark. Stop by the Tool Barn and see how chair bottoming is done. Learn some useful tips and go home and fix the one you have in your garage.
At the Homeplace 1850s in Land Between The Lakes. Admission Fees Apply.
