Support Hancock Biological Station on Kentucky Lake

February 26, 2016 | Staff Report

Murray State University operates Hancock Biological Station on Kentucky Lake. The station is a year-round facility providing scientists with a base of operation for a wide variety of field research and presenting students with opportunities for field-oriented classes, individualized instruction, independent research, and close interactions with researchers and faculty.

One very important aspect of their work is they provide water quality monitoring on Kentucky Lake.  Not only do they provide the all-important water temperature data, they monitor oxygen levels, pH, chlorophyll, turbidity, oxidation, and much more - basically monitoring the health of our fisheries.

Considering the potential significant cuts to university budgets, and the damage done to their monitoring stations by the New Year’s Flood on Kentucky Lake, ExploreKentuckyLake.com is making a contribution to help fund their monitoring program.  We encourage you to contribute as well.  To find out more and to make a donation, click here.

These Canadian geese are just beginning their yearly migration south to avoid the long, cold winter. They will return in spring to the welcoming waterways of the Kentucky Lakes Area.
