At the turn of the century, Shawn Dunnaway began to see a need for a comprehensive website promoting Kentucky Lake, Lake Barkley, and Land Between The Lakes.  Over the next year, he began researching and compiling data for what would become ExploreKentuckyLake.com.  The website had a soft launch on December 1, 2001 and launched officially on New Year's Day 2002.

Since that time, Shawn and his team of staff have worked promoting the Kentucky Lake Area through the site.  After 16 years and over 16 million website visits, ExploreKentuckyLake.com has become the internet's top destination for all things Kentucky Lake.

Shawn and his crew take pride in the Kentucky Lakes Area. They believe they need to provide the most accurate and up-to-date information possible on the website. ExploreKentuckyLake.com is updated around the clock, every day, providing timely information for potential tourists and the locals.

Explorations Media Group, LLC, the parent company of this website, is an independent establishment and not affiliated with any accommodation, real estate agency, or any other type of business. This eliminates the "conflict of interest" and gives an opportunity for equal exposure for all in the lakes area. The company is based out of Murray, Kentucky and is owned, operated, and designed by local folks who are originally from the Kentucky Lakes Area.

ExploreKentuckyLake.com has a passion for this area. Their number one goal is to market and promote Kentucky Lake tourism on the internet. Together with this site, and their sister site Four Rivers Explorer and  social media channels, the staff of ExploreKentuckyLake.com is striving on a daily basis to promote this region as a top destination for adventure tourism.
