Cadiz & Trigg
County Government
The City of Cadiz is governed by a mayor and
six city council members. The city's services include fire,
police, water, and sewer. The Cadiz Police Department has a staff
of nine police officers patrolling Cadiz, while the Trigg County
Sheriff's department patrols the county. The Cadiz Volunteer Fire
Department has several volunteers to help fight fires. The county
has numerous fire stations throughout the county, all staffed by
volunteers. The Cadiz City Hall recently moved into an old
historic building downtown. The city renovated the building,
restoring to its original beauty.
Trigg County is governed by a
judge-executive in the Trigg Fiscal Court. There are also seven
support magistrates each representing a district of Trigg County.
The Trigg County Courthouse has a rather unique history. The first
courthouse was about 5 miles west of Cadiz in Warrington and was
organized in 1820. After
a couple more courthouses, the fourth courthouse was burned by Union
forces during the Civil War. Another fire destroyed the next
courthouse and most of the downtown area in 1920. The existing
courthouse was built in 1922. For more information on the Trigg Fiscal Court, call (270)
522-8459. Cadiz City Hall can be reached at (270) 522-8244.
