Schools in Marshall
County, Kentucky
The
Marshall County School System is Kentucky Lake's largest school system,
containing five elementary schools, three middle schools,
one high school, and a technology center. A portion of the mission
statement from a Marshall County school reads:
The Marshall County High School, in partnership with parents and community, will provide all students the opportunity to acquire an education that will empower them with the ability to reason, to problem-solve, and to access and assimilate information, so they may be prepared to participate in a diverse society.
The
Marshall County
Board of Education oversees the school system. The board
regularly meets on the second Monday of each month at various locations
throughout the county. For more information on the board, contact
them at (270) 527-8628.

Christian Fellowship School
Christian Fellowship School is a non-denominational Christian school
located in the heart of Marshall County. Established in 1984, CFS offers
classes for grades K – 12th and has a half-day four-year old preschool
program. CFS is certified by the state of Kentucky as a fully accredited
school. It was recognized in 1995 as “School of the Year” by ORUEF, a
Christian school service organization. The school has a current
enrollment of 260 students, serving families throughout the West
Kentucky area, as well as southern Illinois and northwestern Tennessee.
The mission of CFS is to “equip a generation to impact the world.” Along
with a challenging core curriculum, CFS offers music, art, computer
science, Spanish, and German courses. High school students can also take
classes in Speech, Psychology, Journalism, AP Calculus, AP Biology, and
Family Living (using Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace for High School
Students”). Special education services are also available.
In addition to a strong academic tradition, CFS offers an established
sports program. The school is a member of the Kentucky High School
Athletic Association, offering athletic programs for elementary, middle
school, and high school. KHSAA sports offered at CFS include: boys’ and
girls’ basketball, cheerleading, volleyball, soccer, baseball, softball,
track and field, cross country, and golf.
CFS has a strong spiritual emphasis. Bible classes are part of the core
curriculum and chapels are held weekly for each class. Students can be
involved in a variety of service and ministry activities at CFS
including: praise and worship teams, outreach teams, handbell choirs,
and other activities. Scripture, Biblical principles, and character
training are imbedded throughout all the curriculum and programs offered
by the school.
