Kentucky Lake

Kentucky LakeWelcome to one of the world's largest man-made lakes - Kentucky Lake.  With a length of 184 miles, and a width of 1.5 to two miles, Kentucky Lake has over 2,000 miles of shoreline and 160,300 acres of water.  Bordering Marshall County to the east, Kentucky Lake is this area's greatest attraction.

Kentucky Lake provides all type of recreation including fishing, boating, swimming, hunting, skiing, and much more.  Several dozen resorts, marinas, and hotels can be found throughout the shores of Kentucky Lake in Marshall County.  Exceptional and breath-taking sunsets (and sunrises, too) can be found just about every day on the magnificent waters.

Kentucky Lake also has several tributaries, including the second-largest, Jonathan Creek, located in southern Marshall County.  Jonathan Creek is known for its exceptional year-round fishing and the numerous resorts located there.  More about Kentucky Lake...

Kentucky Dam (Read about our trip to Kentucky Dam)

This mammoth concrete dam was completed in 1944 after 6 years of work.  The dam is responsible for creating the Tennessee River Reservoir, better known as Kentucky Lake.  This structure is 206 feet tall and 8,422 feet wide.  Recreation at the dam includes fishing, boating, a visitor's center, and swimming.  The dam is also home to Kentucky Dam Village State Park which features golf, a marina, swimming, lodging, a convention center, playgrounds, and picnic areas.
