Lyon
County Schools
The Lyon County
School System is composed of two schools - Lyon County Elementary and Lyon
County High School. The schools are under the authority of the Lyon
County Board of Education.
Lyon County Elementary
has an enrollment of about 600 in grades K-6. The school system
has 27 regular-course teachers, as well as teachers in, physical
education, computers, alternative classroom, gifted and talented, sixth
grade band, and much more. The school's computer-to-student radio
is 6:1, with the teacher-student radio at 1:16.
Lyon County High School
is home to grades 7-12. About 450 students make up the six grade
levels at LCHS. The teacher-student radio is 1:17, while the
computer-to-student ratio is 5:1. On top of the traditional courses,
Lyon County High School offers courses in ecology, field biology, government, college English, speech,
and arts and humanities.

Higher Education
While no
facilities exist in Lyon County on higher education, community colleges
and universities are in the region. Paducah and Madisonville
Community Colleges are the closest institutions, while Murray State
University is the nearest four-year public university.
