Freedom Fest

19th Annual Freedom Fest - Murray, Kentucky

FRIDAY, JUNE 29, 2007

Opening Ceremony · Downtown Square · 5:00 pm
This event kicks off Freedom Fest with a ribbon cutting. The community is invited to meet and recognize all of the festival’s sponsors, event planners, volunteers, and vendors. Murray's community children will also sing the National Anthem.

Rotary-Max Hurt Memorial Golf Tournament · Murray Country Club · 1:00 pm
The two-man scramble tournament will raise money for scholarships. There will be cash prizes, door prizes and a $10,000 hole-in-one contest. Held at the Murray Country Club. Classic Rock Double Q 94.7 “Red, White and Blue” Block Party · Court Square ·
6:00 pm - 11 pm

The Todd Hill Quartet kicks off Friday night with a wailing swing jazz sound. All-male vocal group, Blend, will provide an intermission before Murr-Vegas All Stars take the stage. Their mixture of swing, R&B and classic rock will make the Block Party an event for people of all ages to enjoy.

Murray Tourism Commission “Squealin’ on the Square” BBQ contest· Downtown · Friday 5 pm - 11 pm · Saturday 11 am - 4:30 pm
BBQ competitors from across the nation, as well as some local folks, will come to participate in Freedom Fest’s third annual BBQ Competition. Competitors will cook and sell BBQ Friday night before presenting their delicacies to a panel of certified judges on Saturday. Freedom Fest Street Fair · Court Square · Friday 5 pm - 11 pm · Saturday 4 pm - 11pm
This year's street fair will be a two-day event full of arts & crafts, delicious food and lots of entertainment. While at the Street Fair, visit the Regions Bank Kids' Zone for inflatables and the opportunity to paint on the first Freedom Fest Mural. Seventh Annual Freedom Fest Invitational · Murray Parks · Friday 6 pm - 10 pm · Saturday 8 am - 10 pm · Sunday 9 am - 5 pm
This USSSA-sanctioned youth baseball tournament for ages 8-16 will be at the Murray-Calloway County Parks baseball complex and other fields in Mayfield and Draffenville. Select and all-star teams from all over the United States and Canada will come for three days of outstanding youth baseball. Admission is $4 per person per day, or $7 weekend pass (children 8 and under are admitted free). The tournament is produced by Teamwork Marketing & Promotions, LLC. O.B. Boone Memorial Country Ham Breakfast · First United Methodist Church ·

The 20th annual breakfast sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 77 helps raise funds for camping supplies, activities and scholarships. Held from 6:00 am - 9:30 am at First United Methodist Church located at 5th and Maple, admission is $6 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Briggs and Stratton Main Street Mile · Sparks Hall · Registration 8:00 am · Race

The Briggs and Stratton Main Street Mile run/walk begins on Main Street in front of Sparks Hall and continues to 6th Street. There is a $10 registration fee and a discounted rate of $8/person for groups of 10 or more. First, second, and third place medals for 14 age categories in male and female divisions will be awarded. A trophy will be awarded to the overall male and female winners. Applications are available at Curves for Women and the Murray Tourism Commission. Campbell Realty's Freedom Fest Parade · 10th & Main to Briggs & Stratton · 9:30 am
Known as the “Biggest Small Town Parade in America,” this year’s parade is sure to entertain everyone. All churches, clubs, civic groups, and individuals are invited to join this celebration. Saturday Night Music Extravaganza · Downtown Square · 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Country music artist Matt Warren opens the evening, followed by headliner Lee Brice, with the Top 40 Hit "She Ain't Right." Brice is on the road to country music stardom. Take this opportunity to see him in an intimate setting as he rockets up the charts.

Bark in the Park · Central Park Courthouse Pavilion · 11:00 am to 2:00 pm
This event for canine lovers and owners will be held at the Courthouse Pavilion. Demonstrations of obedience from canine rescue dogs and police will highlight this event sponsored by the Humane Society of Calloway County. The Freedom Fest Board and the Murray Tourism Commission host the closing ceremony at Central Park's Amphitheater.

Briggs & Stratton Fireworks Extravaganza · Central Park Amphitheater · 9:00 pm
One of the biggest and best fireworks shows in the mid-south, the Briggs and Stratton Fireworks Extravaganza closes a weekend full of family-friendly Freedom Fest activities.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 4

Veteran's Memorial Service · Court Square · 7:30 am
To honor those who have served and are currently serving our country, the VFW Post 6291 will host this event at the Downtown Court Square.

SATURDAY, JULY 7

Froggy Music Concert · RSEC · 7:00 pm
