Editor's Note: As this annual event draws closer in 2014, we will provide updated information.
Aurora Country Festival will be held Friday-Sunday, October 4-6, 2013 in Aurora, Kentucky.
The festival is hosted annually by the Jonathan Aurora Action Committee (JAAC), a non-profit organization of local business owners and community leaders. This year's festival chairman is once again, JW Davis, member and Secretary of JAAC. The festival this year is proud to announce Aurora-Ross Fire Chief, Ricky Sirls, as the Grand Marshall of the parade this year.
This years theme of the parade is a Salute to First Responders.
"We are hoping for an awesome turnout
of First Responders from Marshall County to be in our parade," says Davis.
"We are honored to have Aurora-Ross Fire Chief Ricky Sirls as our Grand Marshall. He has been a tremendous asset for the fire department and this community in general, he said. Santa will also make an early appearance in the parade again this year.
"Last year we averaged about 32,000 visitors over the three day period," Davis said. "This year we also have a new fire house with the Aurora Ross Fire Department's recent grand opening and we hope to have the new station open for the public to come and see for a few hours on Saturday from 10am-2pm," Davis said. "We also hope to have the PHI AIR MEDICAL HELICOPTER CREW on the ground on display for a meet and greet as well as the Smoke House for the kids," he said.
The festival also includes an Antique Car Show, Auction, Live Music, two major flea markets and vendor areas at the Aurora Visitor Center and the Kenlake Music Barn Stage across the street from the Brass Lantern Restaurant and next to the Hitching Post General Store.
There are also many other vendors spread thru-out the community.
There are also Sorghum and Honey Sales at the Sorghum House at the Visitor Center, Games, Kids Rides, Craft Fair, Concessions and much more!
The Aurora Country Festival is looking for and welcomes anyone, Organizations, Clubs, Schools, Churches, and more to participate in the parade and music stage festivities.
