Downtown Paris & Murray

Downtown Paris
If you are in the mood for some shopping, you will want to head to downtown Paris for this area's most gorgeous downtown square.  In the mid 1990s, the downtown area underwent major renovations to bring the square back to its original 1920s-era style.  This was certainly accomplished as now the downtown area is bustling with business (especially antique stores).  Visit one of the 40 merchants downtown for an experience to remember.

Downtown Murray
Murray Main Street was formed to revitalize the downtown area, also known as the "court square."  The court square area has numerous old buildings, some dating back 125 years.  The buildings, landscaping, and streetscape were slowly deteriorating as the northern part of the city exploded with commercial development.  The court house itself needed an major exterior overhaul as well as the clock tower.  Something had to be done.

Streetscape work started on November 2001 and was complete by July 4, 2002.  New sidewalks, pedestrian bulbs, and brick walkways were installed.  New light fixtures were set in place to give the court square a 1920s feel.  Several facades of buildings have been given a makeover as well.  Exterior rehabilitation is underway on both the court house and the clock tower.

Today, the downtown area is full of merchants offering a variety of goods and services.  It is certainly worth the trip to downtown Murray!  To learn more about the Murray Main Street Program, click here.
