The center of education for
the Kentucky Lakes Area is Murray S tate University. The nationally
accredited, four-year school was founded in 1922 with just over 200 students as
a teacher's college. Now MSU offers
five academic colleges of study including Business and Public Affairs;
Education; Health Sciences and Human Services; Humanities and Fine Arts; and
Science, Engineering and Technologyas well as the School of
Agriculture for the 10,015
students enrolled. MSU's main campus is situated on 236 beautiful acres in
the heart of Murray. MSU also has campuses in Paducah, Hopkinsville,
Madisonville, and Fort Campbell. The institution also boasts national rankings in the
highly-accredited US News and World Report: America's Best Colleges.

The larger of the
two school districts in Calloway County, the Calloway County School System
contains about 3,500 students. With one high school, one middle school,
three elementary schools and one pre-school, the Calloway County School System
has a rich tradition in providing high-quality education for the people of this

Murray Independent School System proves itself an education leader with high
markings on state and national tests. In fact, in 2001, Murray was one
of the top five highest-scoring districts in the state of Kentucky. You
