The quill pen was used to sign the Declaration of Independence, but did people in the 1850s still use quills as pens? Steel pens had been invented, but there was still a lot to be learned before they would take over. Come on out and try your hand at writing with one of our chicken or duck feathers! Don't worry, the ink will come off...eventually! At the Homeplace 1850s in Land Between The Lakes. Admission fees apply.
